Born in Brahmanbaria
SAK Ekramuzzaman is born in Brahmanbaria, Bangladesh.
1983
Moves to the UAE
Rises to a top executive position at RAK Ceramics, years before the company had any presence in Bangladesh.
1998
Brings RAK Ceramics home
Incorporates RAK Ceramics (Bangladesh) Limited as a UAE-Bangladesh joint venture, investing Tk 1,500 million. Many called it too early, too risky, too foreign a bet for this market.
2004
The plant grows
A new sanitaryware plant and an expanded tile facility enter commercial production.
2006
First in the industry
RAK Ceramics Bangladesh becomes the first company in its industry in the country to receive ISO 9001:2008 certification.
2010s
Bangladesh's largest
Lists on the Dhaka Stock Exchange. Grows into the country's largest tiles and sanitaryware brand, with a nationwide network of 90+ dealers and exclusive showrooms.
2014-2016
Highest Taxpayer
Recognized as Bangladesh's Highest Taxpayer, 2014-15 and again 2015-16.
Today
Fifteen companies, eighty thousand jobs
The RAK Group now spans around 15 companies, including RAK Ceramics, Bangla Vision TV and Star Ceramics, employing close to 80,000 people.
2026
The same bet, a new industry
Founds the Bangladesh Institute of Artificial Intelligence as a RAK Group initiative, serving as Founder and Chairman. Same playbook: spot the gap early, build the institution properly, let the results speak.
